The original version:

The truth I do not stretch or shove
When I state that the dog is full of love.
I’ve also found, by actual test,
A wet dog is the lovingest.

My improved version:

The truth I do not stretch or shove
When I state that this dog is full of love.
I’ve also found, and this is THE truth,
To get this dog wet would be uncouth.

Mine is better. Whatever. It’s more appropriate for me. And that is what is important.
